SAD — Squigonometric Aided Design

Add a shape: click one in the list. It lands in the middle of the workplane.

Move it: drag it across the workplane. It snaps to the grid (change the step under Snap). Arrow keys nudge it.

Handles: Move arrows slide and lift along one direction, Rotate rings turn it, Size cubes stretch it. Or type exact numbers in the panel on the right.

Holes: switch a shape to Hole, put it where you want the cut, select it together with the solid (⇧-click), then Group. The hole is carved out. Ungroup brings the pieces back.

Squig shapes: the squircle, sphuircle and squitorus have a p slider. p = 2 is round, p = 4 is the classic squircle, and higher p heads toward a square. The polygon has a number of sides.

Machine parts: gears (set the teeth, a hole down the middle, and a twist for helical teeth), bevel gears (cut on a cone; twist them for spiral bevels), splined shafts and tubes. Let go of a gear close to another one and it snaps into mesh: the right distance, teeth in the gaps, and turned by the other at their ratio.

Motion: select a part and give it a speed in rpm (and which of its own axes it turns about), or have it turned by another part: gears in mesh get −(their teeth ÷ its teeth) on their own, and a part on the same shaft turns with it. Press ▶ Run to watch it all turn. Parts that move run into each other: if one hits another the machine jams there and both light up red. Parts that already touch at the start count as fitted together (a shaft in its bushing), so they never jam.

Cutaway (View menu): cut the design open to see inside, everything or only the shapes you pick, along any direction and at any depth. It only changes how it looks. The same panel has an exploded view that pulls the pieces apart, and File → Open an example has a three-shaft gearbox that uses all of this.

SHADe (Shape Heuristic Aided Design, in the shapes list under Make your own): carve your own shape by hand, starting from a block, a ball, a cylinder or any shape in the list (or pick Carve it in SHADe… on a shape in your design). Grind wears material away under the tip and Build up adds it back (P switches pens); Sand gently smooths rough spots, Engrave and Emboss cut or raise a line of one depth, and Dimples and Studs press in or raise dots. Mirror carves both sides at once, Also mirror and Repeat put every stroke on more planes and round the vertical axis, ✋ Navigate (N) turns the view without carving, and Auto-Finish (or right-click the shape) smooths away the grind marks. Done puts it in your design.

Repeat (Object menu): copies of the selection spaced along a line or round an axis, like the spokes of a wheel. Swing while running (in a shape's Shape it section): bend, twist and taper that swing back and forth when you press ▶ Run.

My shapes: select any shape you've made (blended, bent, grouped…) and pick Save to My shapes. From SHADe you can save straight from its toolbar. Click one in the shapes list to add it to any design; right-click to rename it. They're kept in this browser, and they travel with your share links, so whoever opens your design gets them too. To move them to another device, share them with yourself (Share all my shapes).

Export STL downloads every solid as one file for slicers like Cura, PrusaSlicer and Bambu Studio. Holes that aren't grouped into anything are left out.
